Janine from 'My 600-lb Life' Plans to Continue to Document Her Weight Loss Journey. For My 600-lb Life star Janine Mueller, weight has always been an issue. The 53-year-old is part of the Season 6 cast of the hit TLC reality TV series in which morbidly obese patients document their journey of getting approved for gastric bypass or gastric sleeve surgery in order lose weight — and their weight loss is often a life or death matter. Fans watched as she traveled from Seattle to Houston in order to see the renowned surgeon Dr. Nowzardan, which was full of ups and downs. “An adoption agency told my parents that my birth mother was a large woman — therefore I should be closely monitored so that I didn’t turn out the same way,” Janine said in her confessional. “My mother — god bless her — took that very much to heart and was waiting for me to get fat, so for my mom, it was like an obsession. She was constantly worried or concerned about my weight all the time." Janine said that her mother consulted regularly with her pediatrician and when Janine was 3, they decided that it was time for Janine to go on a diet. Then, when Janine was 4, they decided that she should be on diet pills. Fast forward fifty years later and Janine found herself at her heaviest at about 629 pounds. She decided it was time to finally take her life into her own hands and booked a flight to Houston to meet with Dr. Now, and even though the flight was extremely painful for her due to complications from her lymphedema, she made it.
