When you decide to invest in the stock market you will want to research different kinds of stocks. There is a lot of information available on the internet today. I advise you to do your own research at a financial page such as Google or Yahoo or any major financial page where information is available for you to look up. I look for volume, 1 million or more shares traded daily is my preference, but 250,000 shares daily is respectable. I look for a P/E ratio of 20 or less and maybe 10 or less. I like companies which pay high dividends, 5% or more is good. I like companies I can understand. I like companies which will be around for many years. I do not trade on margin. I do not trade options. I buy 100 shares at a time of companies which often are very well known. There are many such corporations that have businesses such as pharmaceuticals, energy, fast food, conglomerates, transportation and many kinds of big companies.
