There’s so many things I loved about this film. Time is a big theme throughout and a lot of the music is at 60 beats per minute (referencing seconds in a minute). The spaceship, Endurance, also has 12 parts to it, like the hours of a clock. When I play percussion on the cello about halfway through this arrangement, I tried to mimic the sound of a clock ticking. The main OST tracks I used as inspiration were ‘Day One’ and ‘No Time for Caution’. And it was the below scene’s score that provided the most inspiration!
Case: Cooper, there’s no point using your fuel to—
Cooper: Analyse the Endurance’s spin.
Dr Brand: Cooper, what are you doing?!
Cooper: Docking.
