Oh, Jun Ho Professor & Director, KAIST & Humanoid Robot Research Center JunHo Oh is a leading robot scientist in Korea. A professor of Mechanical Engineer Department at KAIST and a director at Humanoid Robot Research Center, he invented KHR1&2, two legged robots, from 2002 to 2003 and HUBO, Korea's first humanoid robot in 2004. He finally invented Albert Hubo, Android robot, next year and HUBO2 in 2009. He has been awarded many times with his work and recently wrote papers in journals domestic and overseas. He mainly focuses on research field like Automatic control, Mechatronics and Robotics. 1996~1997 : Visiting Professor - U. of Texas, Austin 1985~Current : Professor - KAIST Mechanical Eng. 2006~Current : Robots policy consultant - Ministry of Commerce Industry and Energy 2010~Currnet : Member - The National Academy of Engineering of Korea 2010~Currnet : Distinguish Professor - KAIST 2013~2014 : Vice President of KAIST Hubo2 HUBO is one of the most famous humanoid robot platform in the world and also represents robot technology of the Republic of Korea to the world. HUBO2 is the latest version of the HUBO series. This robot was developed in KAIST, 2009. Based on our experience over 10 years, we accomplished an improved robot system and performance ability in such tasks as motion, walking and even running. The main goal of the HUBO2 design was to achieve the lightest human-size humanoid robot in the world. The design for the light arms of HUBO 2 changed to 7-DOF and became more compact so that its motion could be swift. Through its light weight, HUBO 2 can run at a maximum speed of 3.6 km/h. Moreover, new the walking algorithm permitted stretched leg walking, which was different from previous robots.
