Inside Putrella the Corpse Flower

They cut a plate sized hole in the side of the Flower to get some pollination work done. April 23 Daily Update: Around 2pm this afternoon, several of our growers cut a dinner-sized plate hole into Putrella's spathe (the ribbed, green leaf surrounding the tall middle spadix) to access the pollen produced by the male flowers. This pollen will be stored to pollinate future blooms at Muttart, as well as to share with other conservatories. Putrella still looks great, and was a little stinky this morning. The smell has since dissipated, but trust us - this is still a sight to see!
