Indigenous Peoples Celebration 2019 | Sealaska Heritage

Watch the Indigenous Peoples Day Celebration SHI sponsored, which featured national civil rights hero Elizabeth Peratrovich, Kaaxgal.aat Raven of the Tlingit Lukaax.ádi clan. At the public event, a poster of the Elizabeth Peratrovich coin from the U.S. Mint was unveiled; the coin will be in circulation beginning of January 2020. The celebration featured a talk by the American civil rights leader and human rights activist Karen K. Narasaki of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights, as well as Jackie Pata, CEO of Tlingit & Haida Regional Housing Authority, and Joe Nelson, Sealaska board chair and SHI ex-officio trustee. The event included a performance by multicultural dance group Yees Ku.Oo.
