A chemical gas leak in southern India has killed at least 13.

Over 1,000 people were left struggling to breathe and collapsing in the street.

The gas leaked after a fire broke out which has since been extinguished.

An eight-year-old girl has been reported as one of the people that had died.

Officials said the synthetic chemical styrene leaked from a plant, which workers were preparing to restart after it was closed during the coronavirus lockdown.
