Although sometimes used interchangeably, there is a distinction between project and product management as they require different skill sets, methods and tools.
Join Dominic Lepore, founder of Terrapin Consulting, along with Kelly O'Connor, product manager at U.S. Digital Services, as they discuss the differences between project and product management.
The main difference is that project management is plan driven and is about delivering on time and on budget, while product management is user driven and tries to solve the right problem.
There are also three few key methods and concepts that make product management different. The first item includes the Agile method where it focuses on iterative development, small empowered teams, and its all about the customer.
Another key differentiator is called Minimum Viable Products (MVP), which is the smallest thing you can deliver to a user that actually has value. It's when you can start getting feedback to see if your solution is working with users right away.
