At this point in the video I could have saved the Icom 7300 settings to the SD card before updating the firmware. After updating the firmware, if needed, immediately load the settings back onto the radio.
The first firmware update is out for the Icom 7300. I never jump on updates until I know they work and of those who have performed this there are no issues. It only fixes a couple of items. A misspelling in the menu and an audio processing improvement in SSB mode transmission. Most haven't reported a difference in SSB audio and it's too early for me to tell.
If you're a little nervous updating it, here's a how to. Simple, but you must do a few things just right for it to work. Read the instructions first! Here are my points:
1. Format the SD Card in the Icom radio, not on your PC or Mac.
2. Copy the firmware that you downloaded from the website to the IC-7300 folder on your formatted SD Card.
3. After all of the warnings, hold the "Yes" button for 1 second.
4. Always, always, unmount the SD Card. Don't just eject it.
I hope this helps you. I apologize for the poor audio. I'm working on it .
Best wishes, good health, 73 and good DX - Rich, K0PIR
