HP StorageWorks SAN Switch console cable differences

I compare a 4/8 switch, which uses an older style serial cable, with a newer 8/80 switch, which requires a "straight through" pin-out configuration. A Cisco cable will work just fine, provided that you use a "real" serial port, & not a PCI-based serial port card. These have issues with USB to serial COM port drivers, even though they say that it supports the RS232 standard.
