In this talk, we will focus specifically on how US companies can benefit from managing their payroll through #Odoo Enterprise’s Payroll app in v13 combined with Hibou’s USA payroll localizations. We will first discuss the unique challenges US companies face in running payroll, including: - Complex federal withholding structures and reporting requirements - 50 states, each with their own withholding and reporting requirements that span across income tax with holdings, unemployment, workers compensation and other state-specific with holdings These challenges are often seen by organizations as roadblocks to running their own payroll, with many companies choosing to contract out payroll to third-party organizations. This leads to increased costs, manually exporting data points (timesheets, attendances and leaves) for their payroll processor, importing or manual creation of journal entries to record payroll, and a lack of visibility for stakeholders. With Odoo Payroll and Hibou’s USA payroll localizations, these challenges fade away to become a simple matter of training, allowing companies to confidently take control of their payroll processes. To review these processes, we will start with the important underpinnings of any Odoo payroll implementation, explaining the role that each of the following have to play: - Salary Rules - Salary Structures - Contribution Registers - Employees and Contracts We will then install Hibou's USA Payroll localization and one of the 50 state localizations and: - Configure an employee contract based on W4 and state-specific withholding forms - Review the salary rules that come from each of the modules, configuring the accounting consequences of each rule while explaining the reasoning behind doing so - Run a payslip for the employee, discussing the salary computation as well as the resulting journal entry To wrap up the talk we will: - Review the reporting process for Federal 940 and 941 Reports, touching on how state-specific reporting follows the same basic pattern - Create and reconcile both our federal/state payments and the employee payslip Remaining time will be devoted to Q+A.
