How to split Wood - Log Splitter 101

Wood heat 101 - Splitting logs A quick note on how we heat our home and shop with wood. Wood heat is alot of work but it a nice heat. Logc spitter with hydraulic splitter can split you alot of wood fast.Hardwood or softwood. We can split and stack about 2 plus face cord an hour. and cut at the same rate. so we spend about 40 hours a year cutting and splitiing wood to get heat. Our log splitter saves us thusands of dollars a year, If we were to het with oil I think we would be looking at 5000 to $8000.00 per year for home and shop. Our Wood heat also heats our hot water from October to April whick knocks off another 50 $ plus a month on our hydro bill. I run about 15 ton force on this splitter and I built this one over 20 years ago,.
