Greenhouses are great for raising seedlings during winter so they're ready to plant once the warm weather arrives, plus they provide the ideal environment for striking cuttings.
But greenhouses don't have to be huge, expensive structures that are hard to build. This greenhouse is build from a kit and can be set up and ready for use in just one day.
For this project, we're using the NaturalLife Walk-in Greenhouse, which measures 2 metres by 2 metres. It's easy to install and the ideal size for small back yards. Find out more: http://www.tuscanpath.com.au/type/greenhouse-range/
There are a few things to consider when setting up a greenhouse
- Avoid putting it where it gets full summer sun, unless you plan on adding shadecloth over the top.
- Position it away from windy areas
- Ensure the floor has good drainage
- Manage the ventilation to find a good balance between gentle warmth, humidity and airflow
- Control any pests or diseases promptly, as they can spread rapidly in the closed environment.
