http://jaremfrye.com - See How To Remove A Tick From A Dog or in this case, a human. I couldn't believe it! I woke up ready to compete in a sailing regatta and went to put my prosthetic leg on to go face the day. But low and behold, before I could do that, I had to get on Google and look up how to remove a tick!
This is the first time I've ever had a tick and I was worried sick about lymes disease, how to remove the tick safely, what to do and what not do do, and all the problems that could come from getting a tick bite.
I had learned how to remove a tick from a dog before, and it should be the same for humans right? But with the internet as readily available as it is my wife told me to wait while she did a search to make sure we had the most current information. I love that about her. She never thinks she just knows it all and that nothing could change. She's always in an open learning stage so I patiently waited while she looked up "how to remove a tick" and checked several authority sites.
By this time all four of my boys had come in to our room to see what was going on and get an object lesson on removing ticks. My one year old wanted to sit in my lap and kept trying to sit right on the tick. I was staring at this disgusting little insect, with it's feeder stuck in my flesh and just wanted to remove the pesky thing.
Eventually the conclusion seemed clear that this was in fact the best way to remove a tick from a dog, so why not from me. Funny how the internet seems more useful for dogs than humans?
So, in hopes of being really helpful, I thought it made sense to pull out my iPhone, and record my little procedure of removing this tick from my leg. It turned out that I could actually see better though my iPhone screen than I could see for myself with my own eyes.
This tick was a little bug, but I sure was happy to remove it. So here is my video about how to remove a tick from a dog, or a cat or a human. Should be about the same all around.
Ps, there's never been a case of anyone contracting lymes disease from a tick in Utah. That's good news and it seems to be holding true for me and my own tick bite. Hope this has been helpful!
