How to Relieve Sores on Floaty Fish

My poor broadtail goldfish, Callisto, has struggled with chronic swim bladder issues for a couple of years now. She has slowly gotten progressively worse over time, and right now she's at her worst, spending about 90% of her time upside-down. When she is not actively swimming, she's upside-down at the surface with part of her belly and pelvic fins out of the water. Spending so much time with parts of their bodies exposed to air can cause thick white patches to develop on goldfish, and sometimes they turn into red sores. To help prevent this irritation, you can add some Vaseline (petroleum jelly) to the affected areas. It can be reapplied daily if needed, and if your fish is not stressed out by too much handling. Keep in mind, this obviously does not treat the underlying cause, but it does help alleviate the symptoms in the meantime. Please keep Callisto in your thoughts.
