How to Make A Hand Router Plane With Hand Tools Building Tutorial

This is how I made a router plane by hand. The stock is out of 1-inch mahogany, and the iron is made from an old chisel that I had on hand. The pattern for the router can be found on Google by searching for router plane pattern. I cut out the stock with a coping saw and then shaped it with a spoke shave rasps and other shaping tools. The hole was cut with a brace and bit. And then the shaft for the iron was cut out with a quarter-inch chisel. The iron was heated up with a propane torch and bent to shape. Then it was hard and in vegetable oil. After that, its at in the oven at 450 degrees for a little over an hour and slowly cooled over the next hour. It is attached to the frame with to quarter inch thumbscrews.
