This is surprising to me as in our gardens in general a lot of our shrubs and plants are in fact perennial simply meaning that they come back year after year. There are a host of vegetables which are also perennial most of which seem to have developed a folklore around them leading people think that they are difficult to grow when in fact if you prepare the soil properly they are less demanding of your time and reward you with what are invariably expensive or hard to get hold of crops.
