If your attacker truly wishes to fight you, he would come up and strike you immediately. So, if he invites you to start a fight, that means he is not fully ready to commit yet. If he starts to verbally insult you and invites you to come fight, and he is from a distance, it shouldn't matter to you. If he begins to come at you and comes in closer, that is when you should go pre-emptive and strike. What you don't want to do in this type of scenario is come at him and show him that you are ready for a fight. If you do that, he'll be able to pick up right away whatever footwork or technique you might have and you will lose your element of surprise which leads you to a disadvantage. Your purpose is to strike back at him as quickly as possible and finish the fight and get out quickly! If your attacker is inviting you to fight, draw him in. Let him come to you, you shouldn't go towards him. This will give you the opportunity to go pre-emptive and surprise your attacker with a solid first strike! Use this tactic to beat your attacker psychologically and physically...Draw him in and strike him when he least expects it!
