How to change a gas mask/respirator filter

I get asked a lot how to change a gas mask or respirator filter, especially if you are wearing the mask in a contaminated environment. In this video I explain how to change a 40mm NATO filter while holding your breath and how to purge the mask afterwards. This tutorial would also work for 40mm GOST filters and 60mm NATO filters, however it won't work for cheek filters or certain types of proprietary filters. The masks used in the video to demonstrate the changing of a filter are the Israeli Shalon 4a1 and the British Avon FM12 respirator.
