If picking the barbell up from the floor, it is recommended to learn the Deadlift exercise first to ensure you do not injure yourself! ?TOP TIP #1: Beginners are prone to starting off in the correct torso position, but as they row each rep, they begin to become more and more vertical. Focus on pulling the chest towards the bar as you row the bar up each time to combat this. ?TOP TIP #2: Focus on squeezing the shoulder blades together throughout the movement and pulling the elbows back and high to help ensure the upper back muscles are being used correctly. How to: ?It is recommended to learn the Romanian Deadlift Exercise before conducting Barbell Rows - this is the same movement pattern used to get into and out of the Barbell Row. 1) This exercise can be performed from a power rack or simply from the floor. 2) Pickup a barbell with an overhand grip, stand up tall and maintain a 'proud' chest. Ensure you maintain a crush-like grip on the bar throughout! 3) Hinge the hips back (as per a Romanian deadlift) until the torso is almost parallel with the floor and the barbell is in line with the middle of the shins.
