If your foundation isn’t making it through the day, add powder foundation to your makeup routine.
Powder foundation is similar to liquid foundation, but it is designed to create a long lasting matte look that will even out your skin tone, hide imperfections, and eliminate oily complexions.
Follow along for six steps on how to successfully apply powder foundation.
To get started, you will need the following tools: Powder foundation, round-fluffy powder or kabuki brush, fan-powder brush, or a make-up sponge.
If you’re looking for long-lasting wear, ensure you clean your face and then apply primer or moisturizer beforehand.
It’s also important to note that each application tool will give you different coverage. If you have oily skin, use a make-up sponge. Where if your skin tone is uneven but not super oily, use a round-fluffy or kabuki brush.
Step 1
Prepare your skin for the powder foundation by using a moisturizer, primer, or specific cleaner.
Step 2
Choose a make-up sponge or round fluffy/kabuki brush.
Damp makeup sponge or brush application tools provide more coverage for oily and uneven complexions than other application tools.
Step 3
Swirl and dab application tool into powder foundation.
Remove excessive powder by tapping application tool on container for even coverage.
Step 4
Apply powder foundation in swirl motions to your entire face.
Step 5
Use a clean fan brush and swipe over your face for a clean and natural look.
Avoid using fingers to even out powder foundation. Your fingers have oils that will make your powder foundation look caked on and uneven.
Step 6
Apply setting spray all over your face and let the spray set itself naturally. Once you have sprayed it, let your face air-dry.
There you have it—an even and flawless complexion in six easy steps.
Optional :
Apply an even layer of tinted moisturizer/BB or CC cream to ensure that the powder foundation has something to blend in with. Apply this with a sponge, brush or your fingers.
