Horse with a fractured forelimb, broken leg

This horse presented with an acute onset severe lameness. The severity of the lameness indicates that the likely cause to be either due to an infection (usually in the foot) or a fracture. Enclosure examination a swelling can be seen and palpated on the inside of the left fore limb just above the knee. Radiography confirmed that the horse had indeed sustained a fracture to the distal radius.
