The 2014 season opener did not go the way the Hinds Community College football program desired on Thursday night, as the Eagles fell, 28-21, to Holmes Community College in Goodman.
Hinds fell to 0-1 on the young season with the loss to Holmes being of the non-conference variety. Holmes moved to 1-0.

The turnover would lead to a Joshua Dixon (Clinton) three-yard touchdown run w/9:02 remaining in the final quarter.
The Houston point after attempt was good to cut the Holmes lead to 21-14.
Cunningham would stretch the Bulldogs lead to 28-14 with 5:37 to go in the fourth quarter when his 85-yard touchdown scamper pushed the game seemingly out of reach.
Summers added his second touchdown of the night with 1:47 left in the game when he carried the rock into the end zone from five yards out. The Houston PAT was good and the Holmes lead was cut to 28-21.
The Eagles had a chance to tie things up at the end of the game, but a Summers Hail Mary attempt fell incomplete just short of the end zone to give Holmes the victory.
