Hiking the Horine Reservation Red Trail | Jefferson Memorial Forest

I started training for another 50k! This is the first video of my training hikes/runs to prepare me for the Cloudsplitter 50k in October. I have only hiked since my last 50k, so my legs were a little rusty. I started off easy on this 5.8 mile figure 8 loop trail in the Jefferson Memorial Forest in Louisville, KY. This trail features nicely graded trails with minimal obstacles. There are roots, rocks, and spider webs. In August, the creek was completely dry, so be sure to bring water. The crew and I decided to go on an off-roading tour of the beautiful San Juan Mountains! On this adventure we made our way up to Ophir Pass at 11,789ft. We were surrounded by snow and avalanche debris. To say it was incredible is an understatement. We had the best guide that took us into Silverton for dinner before returning to Ouray. I highly recommend the Jeep Tour from the Western Historic Hotel in Ouray, Colorado!
