Instructional exercise for Outcome 2 of the SQA Higher Mathematics Unit 3 Assessment.
** A wee bit long again ! **
I have included a visual method for using the chain rule which may help.
This involved viewing the effect of functions of functions as a series of turning cogs, and then viewing such expressions as layers of an onion - "the onion rule"!
This is a practice set based on the actual format of the questions met in the assessment.
An outline of the format of the question is first given, along with a brief revision of the required techniques.
The required responses for each mark is clearly stated to facilitate full marks.
Lastly the practice question is given, set out as 'try then check', with the worked solution then following it.
