Heroes of Champaran | 100 years of Satyagrah | Champaran Satyagraha

The Satyagraha at Champaran that led to the transformation of Gandhi from Mohandas to Mahatma is an important event in Indian History. The Champaran Satyagraha Movement started in 1917, invoked the spirit of freedom and nationalism in the masses and gave rise to the national freedom struggle. It wasn’t the struggle of peasants belonging to Bihar but of all the people belonging to India. This year, as we celebrate 100 years of Champaran Satyagraha, we pay homage to the farmers who lost their lives at the hands of the cruel, British land-owners and were no less than martyrs. We also bring forth the people who served as pillars during this movement and without whose help and support, this national movement could never attain the popularity that it did.
