The most haunted forested area in all of Maryland, the Pocomoke Forest has a legacy of haunted stories and paranormal activity that dates back several hundred years. In this haunted minute, Mindie Burgoyne tells about the Forest and the legend of the Cellar House, an old home that sits on the banks of the Pocomoke River near the forest. The Cellar House still stands and has been beautiful restored. It has a legend about a French sea captain /smuggler who used the house as storage for black-market goods. He killed his wife in the upstairs bedroom and allegedly had six fingers which some believe are stil pressing themselves onto car windows that park in the forest. More than one person has reported seeing a six-fingered handprint on the glass after returning to the car. The Pocomoke walkway that weaves through the forest is closed at night, but it's a lovely walk during the day. If you want to experience the haunted forest at night join the Pocomoke Ghost Walk and get a guided tour with all the stories. http://chesapeakeghostwalks.com/pocomoke/ For more information on ghost tours and ghost walks in the Chesapeake region go to www.chesapeakeghostwalks.com
