Harbor Freight Storm Cat 800 watt generator running Haier Air Conditioner

Harbor Freight Storm Cat 800 watt (900 watt peak) generator is capable of running a Haier 6000 BTU window air conditioner unit (model ESA406M). It is Energy Star rated, and consumes 5.5 amps according to the box specifications. It will take more than that to start, what with the compressor needing more energy to get pumping. How it holds up over many hours I don't know. I will be measuring the watts used when I attach a Kill-a-watt meter. (Update 6/16/14): Kill-a-watt measured 4.5 amps/539 watts in steady state). Note: I did not unplug the unit before shutting the generator down. I did turn it off before shutting it down. You should unplug the unit before turning the generator off, and only plug it back in after the generator has warmed up for a few minutes.
