Today is the Northstar Commuer Rails 1st birthday. Northstar Commuter Rail began serving from Big Lake to Minneapolis, plus Northstar Link to St. Cloud, on November 16, 2009. Though ridership was 5% under the projected ridership, people are using it, and I hope that more people will begin to use it as traffic gets worse and gas prices go up. The planned extension of the commuter rail to St. Cloud is being delayed, but hopefully the St. Cloud extension will come soon, more trains will be added, and development will begin along the corridor.
