T/I: 11:12:48 Haitian voters began casting ballots Sunday (17/12) in a presidential election that was expected to give former prime minister Rene Preval a clear victory despite an opposition boycott. Preval, 52, is considered the political heir-apparent to President Jean-Bertrand Aristide, whose friendship with the candidate dates back to the 1970s when the two men worked together with Haiti's poor. Before going to the polls to cast his ballot, President Aristide hosted a breakfast for poor children to express an electoral theme of family values.
