HAIRY NIPPLES? #TMITUESDAYS

Girls get concerned about every little detail on their body, but that’s ok! We kind of have to keep track of our body because changes could show that something is wrong health wise. The best way to learn about something is to ask and get educated answers. One question that I would like to answer today is why do girls get hairy nipples? Hairy nipples are nothing to be embarrassed about because it’s totally a a normal thing. I’d like to share with you why girls get hairy nipples, and when it isn’t normal and ways to safely remove the hair. Why are there hairs around the nipple? Hairs grow there because there are hair follicles around the areola. It’s as simple as that! Lots of women can get it in varying amounts. The amount of hair should be constrained to around the areola. If there is an increasingly large amount of hair growing around your nipples, and your hair growth is starting to look more like male chest hair then you could have a condition called hirutism which is caused by hormonal imbalances like too much testosterone stimulating hair growth in your body. When you have hairy nipples, there are a few options to remove it. You can try tweezing if there’s a few thin hairs. This is the cheapest and quickest way to do it when there’s just a few. Make sure you disinfect your tweezers, and soften the follicle with hot water before you pluck the strand of hair out. You could also book an appointment for waxing or for a technique called sugaring which is a little less painful than waxing. Repeat these procedures about every 4 to 6 weeks and if you go the waxing or sugaring route the hair should grow back thinner and less frequently. Since your nipples are more sensitive don’t try to use at home waxing kits on your breasts because those are meant for arms and legs. Another option is to get laser hair removal but it’s more pricey. Laser hair removal is not for everyone too because the hairs have to be more thick and dark for the laser to work. Don’t try shaving the hair around your nipples because you could end up cutting yourself there. Ouch.
