Gurudwara in Manikaran There is a Gurudwara in Manikaran, the Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji Gurudwara. It is said that the gurudwara was visited by Guru Nanak and his five piaras or disciples. As per the Sikhs, the founder of Sikhism Guru Nanak came to Manikaran during third Udasi. He visited the town with his disciple Bhai Mardana. His disciple felt hungry but there was no food, so Guru Nanak sent him to the community kitchen to get food. People contributed flour but there was no fire to cook. Guru Nanak asked Mardana to lift a stone and a hot water spring appeared. Nanak then asked his disciple to roll chapatis and put them in the hot spring to cook. But the chapatis sank and then Nanak said that they should pray to God and even if one chapatti floats he will donate it in God’s name. All the chapatis floated fully cooked. A small town famous as a pilgrimage site for the Hindus and Sikhs, Manikaran is a popular destination among tourists visiting Kullu and Manali. Bounded by the Harinder Mountains and located on the banks of the River Parvati, the town is also popular for its hot springs. The natural hot springs are a major attraction for visitors.
