Allspice: Allspice Substitute: How to make: Homemade Allspice Substitute: For Recipes & Videos visit http://www.DishinWithDi.com Ground Cloves is used as a Ground Allspice substitute, but it is not always a good match for a recipe requiring Allspice. Where Cloves can be strong enough to take your breath away and spicy enough to burn the tip of your tongue, Allspice is fragrant and has a smooth pleasant taste. After taste testing several Allspice Substitutes, I came up with this spice combination and feel that it is the best match for Ground Allspice, at least from my experiments! Try it out instead of using Ground Cloves and see what you think, but if you do decide to use Cloves be careful not to use too much, as many people don't like the taste of it. Try cloves on the tip of your tongue next time you have some and also smell it and you'll see what I mean. It's potent and should be used sparingly, as an Allspice replacement.
