Grimes - Night Fog Reader - Yours Truly session (Vanessa)

The website features local darlings such as tUnE-yArDs, the Soft Moon, Young Prisms, Weekend, Sonny & the Sunsets and more. Yours Truly also films bands from far and wide. Nate Chan and Caleb Mor of the Yours Truly crew invited me to watch a shoot with Montreal's Grimes, the afternoon before her Regency Ballroom performance with Lykke Li. The experience offered both an intimate look at the videographer's process, while also revealing a raw look at Claire Boucher, the lady behind Grimes. I wrote about the shoot in my Lights Out column—titled Truly, Deeply, Sweetly—for the San Francisco Bay Guardian. I also took some video footage of Nate Chan shooting Grimes for Yours Truly. It's real simple stuff, but I sliced together two scenes to give you a little taste of the experience. At the end it's a little hard to hear, but Claire says, "I'm used to performing that at a dance party."
