GRAPHIC: Sperm Whale Explodes During Postmortem Examination

Video shared by the Scottish Marine Animal Strandings Scheme (SMASS) shows what happens when you poke a hole in the side of a decomposing sperm whale. This whale had been dead for 48 hours when the SMASS team started their postmortem examination. The creature was found to have 100 kg of litter and debris inside its stomach, including sections of net, bundles of rope, plastic cups, bags, gloves, packing straps and tubing.
