Giuseppe Sarti (1729- 1802), Now the Powers of Heaven, Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir, Paul Hillier. Works include Icon paintings from the Yaroslavl, Estonian, Pskov, Novgorod, and Moscow schools, Khizi Monastery, Desyatinny Monastery, Ivan Grigoriev Markov, Dimitrios Pelekasis, Gorny Convent, and the final work, Ecclesia Militans, Moscow School. The Italian composer, Giuseppe Sarti arrived in St. Petersburg in 1785 upon the invitation of empress Catherine II. At once, he took direction as Maestro di Capella. Along with operatic works, he composed some very striking sacred music which has been integrated into the Russian Orthodoxy.
