Gina Rodriguez: Behind the Scenes of her March 2015 Cover Shoot

Golden Globe–winner Gina Rodriguez of Jane the Virgin appears on the cover of Latina’s March 2015 issue. This was the first national magazine cover for the in-demand actress and she sat down with The Real’s Adrienne Bailon for Latina’s exclusive interview, which hits newsstands and Nook Newsstand on February 10, 2015. Rodriguez, on her Golden Globe win for best actress in Jane the Virgin: “It is an absolute honor to be recognized for my work on a project I am head-over-heels in love with. You dream about these moments for years and then, boom! It arrives and you think, “Wow, hard work and dedication does work! I must tell everyone!” Rodriguez, on how her father inspired her: “My father would make me look in the mirror and say, ‘Today is going to be a great day. I can and I will.’ I started my own production company, I Can and I Will Productions, three years ago. I want to give that inspiration to everyone!” Rodriguez on dating a 32-year-old virgin a few years ago: “He was a Christian model and he was saving himself for marriage. And, man, talk about character study! I didn’t even know Jane would be coming into my life, but everything happens for a reason. I honestly think that God put him in my path so that I had this understanding.” The Jane the Virgin star on her real feelings about virginity: “Wait until someone is worthy of your temple.” Rodriguez on when she wants to have a baby: “I’m wearing this pregnancy suit every day and I’m loving it. Ideally, I want to get married first. Maybe I should be dating my boyfriend [actor Henri Esteve of ABC’s Revenge] for more than a year? He’s younger than me, so we can wait. I have to give birth to my career first.” Rodriguez, who rapped as the character Filly Brown, on her rap alter ego: “I had this alter ego in college named Cutz. It was me and my girl Lady Fury.
