General Robert Abrams takes over US Forces Korea command

(8 Nov 2018) General Vincent Brooks handed over the command leadership of US Forces Korea to his successor General Robert Abrams during a ceremony on Thursday in Pyeongtaek, about 65 kilometres (40 miles) south of Seoul.
In his opening speech as the new commander of US troops in South Korea, Abrams stressed the importance of combined forces to maintain peace and security on the Korean Peninsula.
He added that the conditions on the peninsula were "as dynamic as they have ever been".
The event was co-hosted by South Korean Defence Minister Jeong Kyeong-doo and US Joint Chiefs of Staff Vice Chairman General Paul Selva.
