What I like about Sonic Mania's OST is that they retain the crucial 16-bit synths but replace the other ones to produce a high quality tune. Sonic Generations Classic remixes do the same, but the modifications in Sonic Mania are more noticeable. Also, classic remixes tend to sound techno-ish while Sonic Mania's music sounds electronic.
