This ‘Rail Crane’ concept was developed jointly by ASC Group (USA) and independent engineer consultant Herman Hartman for Arcelor-Mittal's iron ore mine in Liberia. The Terex-Demag AC200 all terrain crane was selected as the crane of choice and Zweiweg International (Germany) was chosen for final engineering and manufacturing. The final system is easy to install and can travel on a railway at 35kph+ behind a properly equipment pulling unit. The crane is designed for quick dispatch for emergencies such as derailment of rail wagons or locomotives and can is used for numerous other applications along the railway.
