Part of the Atlantik Wall was the Fortress Island of IJmuiden near Amsterdam in Holland. The Nazi's built concrete and steel fortifications on an island off the coast close to the Schnellboote (fast patrol boats) harbor in IJmuiden. On April 10th 2011, exactly 71 years after the German invasion of Holland, reenactors demonstrated the automatic firing of a German MG42 machine gun. What you may think to hear in the background after the burst of 7.92 millimeter bullets, is not automatic fire from another position, but the echo over the IJmuiden harbor installations.
