As the buzz around Red5 studio's free to play FPS FireFall continues to grow, more and more people are becoming curious about the game. To satisfy curious minds, here's an hour of FireFall PvE gameplay in a mix of first and third person views.
Starting out with a long glide from the town above Sunken Harbor in the south of the existing map along the coast to the northernmost outpost, Thump Dump via the updrafts near the middle of the map. (Glide features a max altitude bug, flying by your ankles is not normal.)
Afterwards, I take a lower glide though the trees back to Northern Shores, help with some stranger's thumper then take a run back through the Coral Forest to Copacabana. There I use the manufacturing terminal in game to make some basic supplies and craft an upgraded weapon, which I then equip using another ingame interface, the Battleframe Garage, where I make some changes to my battleframe loadout. Then I take the Tier 2 engineer frame out and show how, with smart use of terrain it's possible to win fights even if you're outgunned and outmatched in raw firepower against enemies you're actually weaker than in a standup fight.
After some more exploring, scanning and looking for minerals to mine, I eventually drop a thumper to collect some resources. I'm overwhelmed by bugs before I can solo the intermediate thumper to 100% but I manage to send back my thumper before I'm killed.
Right at the end I switch off the HUD so you can appreciate the dynamic night lighting elements in the game after the sun sets.
Remember, everything you see is nothing more than a test, as the closed beta is still in the processing of testing and fine tuning the game's mechanics. People say it's boring, but they don't understand what it is we're testing here. Still, I hope you enjoy getting a good look at the world of FireFall so far.
