In this short video we'll try to answer what's the fertility potential of men with one testicle using two studies done on the subject. We'll also briefly mention a possible way to increase the odds and improve fertility. Firstly, we'll go over a study where men who had undergone unilateral orchidectomy was evaluated. There were different reasons for the said unilateral orchidectomy, howerever, the results suggested that it always resulted in a considerable decrease in fertility potential, whatever the reason for it. The second study being performed on rats who had one testicle removed (at prepubertal age) and leading to a rather reassuring 70% of the rats with restored fertility. However, the remaining 30% of the rats were shown to experience hampered spermatogenesis, low testosterone levels, decreased testicular weights and were not able to reproduce. And finally, we'll briefly mention a suitable method to increase and possibly restore fertility, and that being by optimizing the temperature of the testicle that's left using a device made for that purpose (uBreeze).
