Extreme Cold Water Breath Holds - Water temp 37f or 2c

Cold water breath hold training. As an escape artist, I am trying to go beyond Houdini. To do so, I have to conquer ice cold water immersion. Today I attempt to deal with breath holding in 37F or 2C water. Hypothermia can occur quickly when immersing an unprotected body in freezing cold water. In fact, heat is lost much more quickly in water. Water temperatures hovering at freezing, like I am in today, can lead to death in as little as 15 minutes. As you will see, I will be in the water for over 10 mins and underwater (where 60% of heat loss occurs through your head) for half that time. This is extremely dangerous.
