EXPERIMENT NO. 3 :- The Funny Straw

Material:-glass filled with water, a glass Action :- 1) cut a whole in the straw two inches at one end 2)insert the straw in the cup full of water The ends one after another 3) call someone to drink the water with the help of the straw from both Observe:- it is funny to see that the called person can drink the water from one end but not from the other end with the whole. Why:- 1)when one tries to drink water from the end bearing the hole the air enters into his mouth through the hole. Thereby he cannot drink water. 2)When one tries to drink water from the to drink water from the end bearing no hole difference of pressure is created in the mouth and the surface of water in the bottle and he can drink the water. Principle:- 1)When we drink with the help of a straw the lower jaw of buckle cavity moves up and down driving the air from the mouth out through the nose thereby a difference in air pressure is created between our mouth and the surface above the liquid in the bottle. 2)This difference in pressure in pressure helps us in drinking with the help of the straw.
