'Escher in het Paleis' is a permanent exhibition in The Hague, Holland, dedicated to the world-famous Dutch graphical artist M.C. Escher (1898-1972), whose art startled millions of people all over the world. The museum opened on 15 November 2002, and displays almost all of the works of the artist. The collection is housed in the former winter residence of Queen Mother Emma of the Netherlands, used from 1901 until her death in 1934. The Palace (Lange Voorhout) was officially used by the royal family until 1990. In 1991, the family sold the building to the Local Authority of The Hague on condition that it would only be used for cultural activities. The building itself is more than two hundred years old. It is the only public building in The Hague where the original royal ambience of a palace has been maintained. http://www.escherinhetpaleis.nl/?lang=en http://www.mcescher.com http://www.wikipaintings.org/en/m-c-escher/mode/all-paintings February 20, 2013
