Ernest Borel Cocktail watch. White face with clear beads. Wind up Swiss movement. Gold plated with see-through rear case back. Excellent condition. Synchron era manufacture. Synchron was made up of three watch companies, Doxa, Cyma, and Ernest Borel and all three combined in 1975. The logo for Synchron was a triangle, which is signed on the winding stem crown of this watch. Many different colors and case styles for these Cocktail watches were available. The story goes that they were not sold in the US, but were popular on Caribbean cruise ships and in the Caribbean ports at all the jewelry stores. Today's Ernest Borel company released an automatic version in 2013 with a MSRP of $1700+ US. The Cocktail watch celebrated its 75th Anniversary in 2015 per Ernest Borel's website, meaning the Cocktail watch with the kaleidoscope face was first introduced in 1940. The hour and minute hands are the red triangle markers and the second hand is the rotating disk that creates the kaleidoscope effect. Original white leather strap for this watch was included when purchased off of Ebay. Most of these leather straps are marked Borel on the back and have a gold applied design on their front. My wife likes a Twist O Flex band so I put a 12mm version on this watch for her. Amazingly terrific condition and it works perfectly and keeps great time. There are versions with and without the tiny clear beads (which appear to be mounted inside the crystal). The beads flash light and dark as the mystery wheel second hand moves. The clear case back shows the movement which is marked Synchron 26, Seventeen 17 Jewels with the triangle logo. It is also marked Swiss Unadjusted. The left side of the gold plated case (opposite the crown) is marked Borel Swiss Made (really hard to see, I had to take a close up photo and then blow up the photo to read it. There is a logo to the left of the word Borel, but I can't make out what it says).
