Director - Alex Makarov Writer - David Trevor ENGLISH ONLY! is a comedy about the craziness that takes place at the fictional BEVERLY HILLS LANGUAGE INSTITUTE English school in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles California. Once a week, a quirky group of racially and ethnically diverse adult international students meet at BHLI, hoping to improve their English, however, no one seems interested in learning English. Mostly, the students want to share their unique opinions and learn about everything BUT English. They aren't shy to discuss their own countries, food, sex, pets, relationships, guns, religion, pornography, cars, weather, and life in general, and especially American culture. DAVID is the fish-out-of-water black teacher from Brooklyn New York, trying to keep his classroom in order while the international students he meets daily do their best to challenge his authority, his ability, and his patience. Unknown to the students, DAVID hallucinates often, and carries on an ongoing conversation in his head about the class, which acts as the narrative of the show. The humor comes from the stereotypes presented and challenged, the clash of cultures and ideas, and the ensuing near-chaos in the classroom weekly. At first, all the students seem to be mere stereotypes, but as the students, and David, get to know each other, stereotypes fall away and real human beings stand in their place. All along, it's a hilarious ride, because the students are unaware of what is, or isn't, 'politically correct'. They speak their minds and aren't afraid to question American culture, black culture, and each others' cultures..
