Attention Kmart shoppers: Please read the entire description. UPDATE: The N. Parkway Kmart, which was the twin to this store and opened the same day, is now scheduled to close at the end of the year. Page with pictures and info about this store and Kmart's presence in Huntsville: http://www.deadanddyingretail.com/2014/10/the-story-of-wal-mart-inside-kmart-in.html This Kmart was built around 1970. There was this one, another on North Parkway that opened the same day as this store, and a third store at the south end of Haysland Square Shopping Center on South Parkway. Out of the three, only North Parkway remains open...for now. The building in this video is located at the NW corner of Drake Ave and the Parkway and will likely be demolished so that the land can be repurposed. The last image is a mall guide for Parkway City Mall circa 1990, before it was torn down and rebuilt as Parkway Place. If you stood in the parking lot of the old Kmart looking across the Parkway, Montgomery Ward would be on the left end and McRae's on the right(south). Let me know if you would like more of these historical tours.
