Is an Electromagnetic Pulse (or EMP) a real and credible threat, or just an over-hyped myth? And would an EMP cause all cars and trucks on the roads to die, and all planes to fall from the sky? What are the best ways to protect your gear from the risk of an EMP?
Dr. Arthur T Bradley, author of over 15 books, including: “Disaster Preparedness for EMP Attacks and Solar Storms”, the “Handbook to Practical Disaster Preparedness for the Family,” and the “Prepper's Instruction Manual: 50 Steps to Prepare for any Disaster,” returns to Reluctant Preppers to debunk a litany of misinformation and myths that are raging across the internet. Bradley sets us straight on how to really protect our vital electrical and electronic tools of survival - don't miss this one!

Popular EMP Myths: True or False?
————————————————
No country has ever threatened to use an EMP against the US. This is all made up.
Either the world will end, or nothing much at all will happen.
A “small” nuclear device won’t do much. (Was N.K.’s large enough?)
Someone could detonate an EMP from an airplane.
Only things that are powered on will be damaged.
People would be electrocuted if they were touching metal.
All cars will immediately die. Likewise, all planes will fall out of the sky.
Tying your car to a metal ground rod or dragging a chain behind it will protect it from an EMP.
Small devices, such as cell phones or radios, won’t be damaged.
EMPs will destroy batteries.
EMPs will destroy solar generation systems and generators.
Anyone with a pacemaker will immediately die.
The only way to protect electronics is with a Faraday cage.
You need to build your Faraday cage out of something really thick because aluminum foil will melt.
Chicken wire works as well as anything else for a Faraday cage, plus it’s cheap!
You can just bury your belongings in the yard to protect them from an EMP.
Solar storms have the same effects as a nuclear EMP and therefore need the same protections.
